12 of our favourite photos of Gros Morne from November 2015

November saw Gros Morne National Park move from brightly coloured trees and crunchy leaves all around, to a gorgeous small layer of snow resting on the hills. Here are 12 of our favourite photos showing the Park transition through November, all pulled from the #grosmorne hashtag on Instagram.

Stormy seas. 🌊

“Nature loves courage. You make the commitment and nature will respond to that commitment by removing impossible obstacles. Dream the impossible dream and the world will not grind you under, it will lift you up. This is the trick. This is what all these teachers and philosophers who really counted, who really touched the alchemical gold, this is what they understood. This is the shamanic dance in the waterfall. This is how magic is done. By hurling yourself into the abyss and discovering it’s a feather bed.” – Terrence McKenna A photo posted by Jordan (@jordankelloway) on

Beauty!

Green Point is one of my favourite spots in Gros Morne National Park (one of many favourite spots…). The area is not only beautiful but geologically interesting and important. There are tiny pencil etching like fossils at the point and the cliffs are the internationally recognized What I really like (geologically speaking) is that the oldest rock is on top demonstrating the amazing and humbling power and time frames of the earth’s geological processes. In 2000, Green Point was designated the Global Stratotype Section and Point (GSSP) representing the division between the Cambrian and Orodovician periods. There literally is a point on the cliff wall which is represents the division between periods: any fossils to the left are from one period and to the right, another. This was one, of many, reasons why Gros Morne was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site. #GrosMorne #GrosMorneNationalPark #NationalPark #Newfoundland #Canada #shore #coast #GreenPoint #longexposure #NDfilter #gradND #on1pics #geology #UNESCO #WorldHeritage #on1pics #cambrian #ordovician #sea #ocean #GulfofStLawrence #stratotype A photo posted by Brian Bonnell (@chiyaapasal) on
