Old Crow Magazine is partnering with a group of artists and Writers at Woody Point on Perspective West, an art exhibition exploring the essence of the west coast of Newfoundland. If you’re interested in applying for the exhibition, see below!
All Newfoundland artists and craftspeople are invited to submit to the exhibition “Perspective West,” running from August 16-21, 2016 at the Heritage Theatre in Woody Point, Newfoundland and Labrador, as part of the annual literary and music festival Writers at Woody Point.
From tourism ads to many of Newfoundland’s most frequently exported arts and crafts, Newfoundland is often identified based on images from the island’s East Coast. This summer, the Exhibit Committee asks Newfoundland artists to imagine, invent and express the essence of the West of the island.
Each accepted artist will have the opportunity to display one piece (or a small series of pieces) in any medium*, inspired by the icons, culture, or any aspect of Western Newfoundland.
To apply, please email the following to firstname.lastname@example.org by June 1, 2016:
- current CV
- detailed project description
- any relevant support material (i.e. sketches, images)
All pieces – along with any necessary mounting materials – must be received by August 1, 2016. The show will be curated by the Exhibition Committee. All works must be for sale, and a 30 per cent commission will be taken from each sale. Sales of artists’ work will be handled by the non-profit organization Friends of Writers at Woody Point.
Writers at Woody Point is an annual festival of writing and music that plays to packed houses of festival-goers from around the province and the country.
