Classical ensemble Dark by Five performs Copland’s Appalachian Spring in Gros Morne

Dark by Five is the classical ensemble that performs with Gros Morne Summer Music each year. The group of musicians travel from around the world to gather in Gros Morne, where they take pieces of music that are usually performed by huge orchestras and figure out how to perform them as an eight piece ensemble.

This is Aaron Copland’s Appalachian Spring, as arranged by Jason Nett. The members of Dark by Five include Christine Carter, Diederik van Dijk, Paul Fadoul, Elizabeth Janzen, Lynn Kuo, David Maggs, and Kate Read.

Recorded live at St. Pat’s in Woody Point, NL in July 2015. Thanks to Michael Moulton for audio assistance.
