Diederik van Dijk and Yvette Coleman sing Highway Flagman in the warm lamplight

This set of Old Crow Music Sessions was such a cool experience to work on with Diederik van Dijk and Yvette Coleman. The warm wooden walls of St. Pats in Woody Point were the perfect setting for this cozy session, lit only by lamps that we collected from around town – thanks Sharon, Ken, Miranda, Diana, Jeanie, and the Moultons!

Diederik van Dijk is best known around Gros Morne National Park as a Dutch cellist, and Yvette Coleman is best known as an opera soprano. Occasionally, however, they trade the classical music world for a very special country/jazz sound. For this session they were joined by percussionist Michael Moulton on drums and multi-instrumentalist Robert Humber on bass.

Big thanks to Louis McDonald for mixing and mastering this track. Highway Flagman was written by Diederik van Dijk.

Stay tuned for more recordings from this session!

Diederik and Yvette can usually be found as part of Gros Morne Summer Music, a music festival based in Woody Point and Corner Brook running from July until October. Learn more about Gros Morne Summer Music at gmsm.ca.
