Fretboard Journey perform St. John’s Waltz live on the wharf

There are few songs that make me think of Newfoundland and Labrador like this one.

Fretboard Journey brings together four of Newfoundland and Labrador’s finest guitar players: Gordon Quinton, Craig Young, Duane Andrews, and Sandy Morris. In August 2015, the group was in Woody Point, NL to perform at the Writers at Woody Point festival. During some downtime at the festival, we met up with the group to record an Old Crow Music Session, where they performed their version of Ron Hynes’ song St. John’s Waltz.

Even though the song is about St. John’s, there’s something that rings true in it no matter what part of the province you’re in.
